10. Plakias to Kakomouri Walk and Cycle in Crete

Kakomouri is the hill at the south-eastern end of Plakias Bay. This is an excellent site for early spring flowers and close enough to Plakias for a solitary walk before breakfast.

A level path from the end of the sands runs as far as a couple of tunnels but there is no route beyond this point. It is possible to scramble up well to the east of the big rock face and then climb round the eastern shoulder of this hill, joining a track where the ground is more level. 20 min. Follow this track round until it joins another track due east of the summit. A path can now be followed up to 30 min. the summit which is an excellent viewpoint.
